The 1931 Foundation and Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. collaborated to create the “Nuestra America Initiative”. This initiative supports the missions, ideals, and visions of both organizations by supporting six non-profits with 501c3 status that are selected from the submissions provided by members of Phi Iota Alpha.

Through the Nuestra America Initiative, non-profit organizations are selected each year from recommendations from brothers across the fraternity. These organizations align within the missions and visions of both Phi Iota Alpha and The 1931 Foundation. Since the establishment of Nuestra America Initiative back in 2021 the 1931 Foundation has donated $32,847 to 21 non-profit.

Northeast- HASER
A Puerto Rico-based nonprofit that promotes community wellbeing by supporting grassroots projects focused on equity, quality of life, and socio-ecological resilience. Through partnerships, capacity building, and fiscal sponsorship, the organization helps local groups share resources, strengthen their impact, and tackle social, economic, and environmental challenges across the island.
Southeast- Second Harvest of the Big Bend
A Tallahassee-based nonprofit food bank dedicated to feeding people experiencing food insecurity throughout the Florida Big Bend by acquiring, storing, and distributing millions of pounds of nutritious food each year through a broad network of partner agencies. In addition to direct food distribution, the organization educates and engages the community in the fight against hunger and provides specialized programs—including child and senior nutrition and disaster relief—while mobilizing volunteers and partners to support local needs.
Southwest- Guadalupe Centers, Inc.
One of the nation’s longest-operating nonprofit agencies serving Latino communities, dedicated to improving quality of life in the Kansas City area through education, health and human services, workforce development, youth programs, and adult support. Founded in 1919 in response to discrimination faced by Mexican immigrants, the organization now operates multiple facilities and programs—including early childhood education and charter schools—serving tens of thousands annually and fostering community resilience and opportunity.
Midwest- La Casa Cultural Latina at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
A long-standing student-centered cultural center dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for Latina/o and Latinx students through educational, cultural, socio-political, and leadership-focused programs. It offers mentorship, advocacy, community building, resources for undocumented and DACA students, and opportunities for civic engagement and personal development to support academic success and empowerment on campus.
West- Toro Guardian Scholars at California State University, Dominguez Hills
A comprehensive support program for current and former foster youth, McKinney-Vento students, and unaccompanied minors, providing services, resources, and workshops to help them succeed in college and beyond. The program fosters community and advocacy, equipping scholars with the tools and support needed to graduate and become leaders in their communities.
National- LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC)
A nonprofit educational arm of the League of United Latin American Citizens established in 1973 to expand academic opportunity and leadership development for underserved students across the United States and Puerto Rico. Through a network of regional centers, LNESC provides college access support, STEM and digital literacy programming, tutoring, scholarships, and leadership resources designed to prepare students for academic success and lifelong leadership.
Northeast Province – La Casita Cultural Center
La Casita is a program of Syracuse University, advancing an educational and cultural agenda of civic engagement.
Southeast Province – Solidarity Sandy Springs Food Pantry
At Solidarity Sandy Springs, we are dedicated to helping reduce the impact of food insecurity on individuals and families by providing access to fresh, nutritious food choices while creating opportunities for all community members to serve and build meaningful relationships.
Southwest Province – Guadalupe Centers
Founded in 1919 their mission is to improve lives in Latino communities throughout the Kansas City area.
Midwest Province – The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan
The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan is a non-profit organization serving the needs of the Latino and broader community. We strive to provide an avenue for education and openness to promote discussion of the distinctions and values of different nationalities and cultures. We focus on the common thread that unites all people: a desire for understanding and respecting our differences. The way we do this is by advocating for the dignity of every individual, providing access to services that create equity, and investing in relationships within the community, to ensure that our services continue to impact lives.
Western Province – A Place Called Home
A Place Called home focuses on Los Angeles County, where we serve the elderly, the homeless, children whose lives have been impacted adversely by HIV / AIDS, and children who are abused, neglected, abandoned, orphaned, runaways, learning disabled, at-risk, or disadvantaged.
Northeast Province – Latino Urbanos Book Club
The Latinos Urbanos Book Club was founded by Dr. Nicholas J. Figueroa in January 2021. It began during the pandemic as an opportunity to reinvest back into the reading of recent literary works of art written by Latino/Latina and authors of color writers.
Southeast Province – Solidarity Sandy Springs Food Pantry

Southwest Province – Hispanic Development Fund
The mission of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Development Fund is to improve the quality of life of Latino families in Greater Kansas City by engaging the Latino community in philanthropy to build stronger communities through grantmaking and scholarship support.
Midwest Province – Feed My Starving Children
Feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit.
Western Province – A Place Called Home
At A Place Called Home, our mission is to inspire, encourage, and support the young people in South Los Angeles to achieve social, emotional, and economic success.
Border Angels
Border Angels promotes a culture of love through advocacy, education, by creating a social consciousness, and engaging in direct action to defend the rights of migrants and refugees.
Centreville Immigration Forum
Aims to implement sustainable programs that provide immigrants in need with the means to improve their lives and become more integrated into the community; improve communication and cooperation among all groups serving immigrants; and build community recognition of our strength in diversity.
Guys/Girls Operating as Leaders (GOAL)
A middle school program used to motivate, tutor, and lead at-risk students to cultivate friendships, goals, and mindsets through soccer. GOAL consistently mentors and coaches these students.

Hispanic Center of Western Michigan
Founded in 1978, the goal of the Hispanic Center is to provide unmet social services to the Hispanic Community in Greater West Michigan.
JGM Project
The Jorge Guevara Mellado Project wants to help the students of Peru. We do this through innovative ideas which help the children in Peru excel in education and have new opportunities. Although the project started in 2018 the idea started at St. John’s University.
Phipps Neighborhoods
Phipps Neighborhoods helps children, youth, and families in low-income communities rise above poverty. We work in South Bronx neighborhoods where we can address the greatest barriers to lasting success through education and career programs, and access to community resources.

UNIDAD Nonprofit Organization
Unidad is a nonprofit organization composed of bilingual, multicultural, and diverse community leaders focused on helping the underserved, underrepresented, and those with limited income, resources, or faced with language barriers in Beaumont, Texas. Our mission is to empower, ignite, and facilitate the growth of the Hispanic community through education, philanthropy, economic development, and cultural enrichment.
Western – Border Angels
Border Angels promotes a culture of love through advocacy, education, by creating a social consciousness, and engaging in direct action to defend the rights of migrants and refugees.
Fresh Youth Initiative
We help low-income, immigrant, and first-generation children to secure futures, healthy lives, and strong academic achievement.
Hispanic Center of Western Michigan
The goal of the Hispanic Center is to provide unmet social services to the Hispanic Community in Greater West Michigan.
Peguero Family Foundation
A Hermano run non-profit doing work in El Valle, Domnican Republic. $1000 will help to create a water well for a community of 8000 people along with supplying school supplies for children in need with any additional funds donated.
The Starfish Foundation
A non-profit doing work in Flor de Bastion, Guayaquil, Ecuador. $100 funds tutoring, books, uniforms, and materials per student for 1 year.
UnidosUS
A non-partisan, non-profit organization that is at the forefront of issues such as civil rights, criminal justice, immigration, and so on.
United We Dream
A non-profit that focuses on immigrant services such as education access, defense against deportations, protection, and protecting LGBTQ migrants.
