The 1931 Foundation exists to support Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity’s mission of the development of professional leaders through shared experiences and fostered lifelong brotherhood. These men continuously promote the ideals of Pan Americanism via intellectual dialogue, cultural awareness, and community service.
Established in 2019, the Foundation is dedicated to developing an awareness rooted in the common values and traditions of Latin America. The Foundation supports individual educational achievement of all Latinos.

The 1931 Foundation supports Phi Iota Alpha chapters and brothers with leadership and scholarship programs. And, works to fundraise and support various organizations that serve the Latino communities at home and abroad.

National Hispanic Institute
The 1931 Foundation and Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. collaborated to create the “Nuestra America Initiative”. This initiative supports the missions, ideals, and visions of both organizations by supporting six non-profits with 501c3 status that are selected from the submissions provided by members of Phi Iota Alpha.
National Hispanic Institute
The National Hispanic Institute creates experiences that engage achieving high school and collegiate youth in community leadership roles that advance our quality of life. The NHI provides its youth with a continuum of leadership programs that include the Great Debate, the Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session, the Collegiate World Series, and, the Collegiate Leadership Network.
Money raised help students from under-resourced schools, rural communities, and other challenging backgrounds to more easily access NHI programs and membership. Hundreds of high achieving, collegebound Latinx youth have been helped through the fundraising dollars in the Midwest, Northeast, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and California.

Each year, our GivingTuesday campaign allows us to showcase the power of collective giving and the incredible impact it can have. We invite you to join us in our journey towards creating positive change and empowering the future leaders of tomorrow. Money raised via GivingTuesday helps funds the F.I.A. Merit Scholarship.
The F.I.A. Merit Scholarship recognizes active undergraduate and graduate members of Phi Iota Alpha based on academic achievement and chapter leadership. Each scholarship recipient is awarded $500. Since the inception of this scholarship in 2020, we are proud to have had nine deserving recipients, and we have disbursed a total of $6,000 to support their educational aspirations.
