The 1931 Foundation and Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Unveil 2024 Nuestra America Initiative Recipients

The 1931 Foundation, in collaboration with Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is proud to announce the selection of five outstanding non-profit organizations as recipients of the 2024 Nuestra America Initiative. This initiative, born from the shared missions, ideals, and visions of both organizations, aims to support and uplift communities by empowering non-profits aligned with their core values.

Since its inception in 2021, the Nuestra America Initiative has been a beacon of hope, channeling resources towards impactful causes. Through the collective efforts of members of Phi Iota Alpha, six non-profit organizations with 501c3 status are chosen annually, embodying the ethos of service and community engagement.

The 2024 list of Nuestra America Initiative recipients represents a diverse array of causes spanning the United States:

Northeast Province – Latino Urbanos Book Club

Southeast Province – Solidarity Sandy Springs Food Pantry

Southwest Province – Hispanic Development Fund

Midwest Province – Feed My Starving Children

Western Province – A Place Called Home

“The 1931 Foundation is honored to continue its support for these remarkable non-profit organizations through the Nuestra America Initiative,” said Carlos Famadas, Chairman of The 1931 Foundation. “Each recipient embodies the spirit of service and community empowerment that aligns with our core values, and we are proud to stand alongside Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in this endeavor.”

Since its inception, the Nuestra America Initiative has made a significant impact, with The 1931 Foundation donating a total of $26,483 to 16 non-profit organizations. This ongoing commitment underscores the dedication of both organizations to effecting positive change and creating a better future for communities across the nation.

The 1931 Foundation exists to support Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity’s mission of the development of professional leaders through shared experiences and fostered lifelong brotherhood. These men continuously promote the ideals of Pan Americanism via intellectual dialogue, cultural awareness, and community service.  Established in 2019, the Foundation is dedicated to developing an awareness rooted in the common values and traditions of Latin America. About Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity

Phi Iota Alpha (ΦΙΑ), established on December 26, 1931, is the oldest Latino Fraternity in existence and works to motivate people, develop leaders, and create innovative ways to unite the Latino community. The organization has roots that stem back to the late 19th century to the first Latin American fraternity, and the first Latin American student organization in the United States. The brotherhood is composed of undergraduate, graduate, and professional men committed towards the empowerment of the Latin American community by providing intensive social and cultural programs and activities geared towards the appreciation, promotion, and preservation of Latin American culture. www.phiota.org
